INCREASE COMFORT, CONTROL PAIN You will discover, through hypnosis, that your mind plays a role in the experience and management of long-term discomfort, or chronic pain, You will learn to invoke your body’s internal mechanisms to reduce and even eliminate discomfort or pain of any kind. This allows you to reduce the sensation yourself by learning the proper techniques -- self-hypnosis and/or meridian therapy (emotional and physical energy balancing). Individual results vary depending on the origin of the pain. Sometimes the pain is eliminated; sometimes it can be reduced to the point where less medication is required, leading to a higher quality of life. Pain, or any medical condition, must be evaluated by a licensed medical practitioner before hypnotherapy. If there is a medical condition, I must get a referral from the practitioner. National Institutes of Health has acknowledged and endorsed the value of hypnosis as an adjunct therapy:"Hypnosis: The evidence supporting the effectiveness of hypnosis in alleviating chronic pain associated with cancer seems strong. In addition, the panel was presented with other data suggesting the effectiveness of hypnosis in other chronic pain conditions ...Conclusions. A number of well defined behavioral and relaxation interventions now exist and are effective in the treatment of chronic pain and insomnia. The panel found strong evidence for the use of relaxation techniques in reducing chronic pain in a variety of medical conditions as well as strong evidence for the use of hypnosis in alleviating pain associated with cancer."Integration of Behavioral and Relaxation Approaches Into the Treatment of Chronic Pain and Insomnia, National Institutes of Health; Technology Assessment Conference Statement, October 16-18, 1995 |
